About the Artist Facilitator

A 20-year restaurant chef, David Cook discovered the intriguing nature of local cuisine when he tasted his first bite of kimchi. That was 30 years ago when his parents took him on to a local Korean restaurant in Seoul. Being the son of a Retired US Army Colonel, David was very fortunate to move all around the world and experience many different cuisines.  Since then, David has explored many more local cuisines and cooking methods throughout the Caribbean and U.S., with particular interest in learning how different regions use herbs and spices to create exciting takes on traditional favorites. Having studied at the College of Culinary Arts at Johnson & Wales University, David’s formal training underpins his practical experience and creative flair for creating dishes that make the most of locally-sourced ingredients combined with herbs and spices one may not expect.  Now, David Co-owns Gather Food Studio with his amazing girlfriend/business partner in Old Colorado City, and his mission is to put a career’s worth of information back into the community.

About this Experience

Cooking With Your Kids – EASY Candy Making with Dave

Kids (and Adults) love Candy!  Instead of buying your favorite treats, why not learn how to make them instead!  All three of these candy recipes are guaranteed to bring a smile to your kids faces and to bring out your inner child!  The great thing about these recipes is you know what is going in them – and they will not be filled with extra preservatives and enhancers… Enjoy Candy the way it was supposed to be enjoyed – and have fun cooking with your kids at the same time!

This is an online, live & interactive cooking class using the Zoom platform. Upon class registration, you will be sent a confirmation email with instructions on downloading the Zoom app, as well as the class recipes, equipment and prep lists, and a shopping list.  You will be responsible for purchasing the shopping list items for the class and we ask that you complete the provided prep list work before the class starts and have it ready for cooking so that we can stay on time.  Food will be cooked in your own kitchen, with your own equipment and you will be cooking along with your Gather chef, David Cook.

Each recipe serves 4, so we encourage you to cook with your families and those who may be with you at home. If you’d like to cook virtually with other MAC program participants, each separate location will need to have its own, separate order through the MAC website. Prep together, cook together, laugh together!!

ON THE MENU:

  • Tootsie Rolls
  • Peppermint Patties
  • Rocky Mountain Chocolate Fudge
