Visual ArtsI have a passion for helping people develop their creative “voice” through visual art. Working with people to make art that is meaningful, has been my goal throughout my career. My teaching experience includes working in a variety of settings from an art museum and schools to care homes and a hospital healing arts oncology program. I’ve also led Art and Mindfulness workshops for teachers.

About this Experience
Participants will use their own creative choices to create beautiful abstract, multi-media artwork. Layering different elements with simple printing, rolling with a brayer and free-form painting produces rich compositions. The process is not based on using memory for subject matter. Many people who have experienced memory loss find this way of creating very inviting because of this.
No previous art experience is necessary. Just bring your enthusiasm to create!

About this Experience
Using the meditative art-making process, slow stitching, along with short guided meditations, participants will learn to cultivate self-compassion and inner calm. By focusing on the present moment through these art-making practices we can prevent worry about the future or engaging in repetitive thoughts about the past. We will use a beginner’s embroidery stitch that is easy to learn.

Learn how to emboss into soft metal pieces. I have a variety of nature patterned stencils to choose from. Put your finished artwork on a piece of matboard that you can embellish with fabric or markers.
