Have you ever desired to create a musical composition that tells your unique story? Are you feeling a strong pull to compose a piece that reflects your voice? There is nothing more satisfying than creating or arranging a piece of music for yourself or for the ones you love.
For the past four years, Jodie has worked with composers across the state of Colorado and from both coasts in learning how to express their musical voice through composing. As co-coordinator and founder of Colorado Composes With Friends Project, she and the mentors in the project gave over 100 young composers the chance to find their unique musical voice through the creation of music and song arrangement. Jodie is the now the coordinator/founder and director of the Mile High Music Makers Compose Project and owner of the Jensen Piano & Music Composition. As a music teacher for over 30 years, Jodie has worked with novice, intermediate and advanced composers, many of whom have won prizes at the state, regional and national competitions. Jodie works closely with Noteflight, Apple, Ogilvy Music and other music technology companies to bring the latest in notation software and sound production to music composers. Jodie composes and arranges music for special projects and events. She has performed and taught in the USA, Japan and South Korea. Jodie is a Navy spouse. Her husband, Mark served in the Navy for 27 years.
Jodie holds a degree in education from Utah State University, an Advanced Certificate in Piano Performance from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music in the UK and post graduate studies from the Berklee College of Music in Boston. She love sharing the joy of music creation with others, enjoys hiking the trails close to her home and riding her bike. She is an avid cook and gardener. (Music and food go well together!) She and her husband Mark love to travel, study languages, and attend plays/musical events in the Pikes Peak Region.
