About this Experience

My photography course is designed to teach adult students how to get the most out of their cameras and how to photograph a variety of subjects. Instruction includes discussions of camera settings, equipment choices and composition. Participants will apply what they’ve learned through hands-on sessions in macro photography (flowers, small products, etc.) and low-light/long-exposure shooting. This course also covers sports, event, landscape, wildlife, lightning, firework and night-sky photography as well as “painting with light” techniques. Bring your camera, camera manual and a thumb drive.

You can sign up for session 1 through the MAC program

Session 1 Descrption – Camera Basics and Composition – In this class you will learn about basic camera settings, auto focus, equipment choices, composition and how to start thinking like a photographer to make better photos. Half the session will concentrate on compositional elements and techniques. Bring 5-10 photos on a thumb drive for a critique of your work (if time allows). This session is open to anyone regardless of the type of camera you own.

Date – November 4, 2023, 1-5 pm at UCCS Downtown

Adult Digital Photography Class - Session 1

About this Experience

You can attend session 1 of this series through the MAC program on September 20, 2023. You will receive a $15 credit towards another session in the series.

This 7-session course is designed to provide students with a wide range of photo-editing skills. Participants need a strong set of basic computer skills to attend these classes. This is a hands-on learning experience in which everyone will be provided a set of photographs to work with in real time as a technique or tool is being demonstrated. You will need to bring your own laptop with the latest version of Photoshop CC, Lightroom Classic, Adobe Camera Raw, and Bridge installed. Use of a mouse is highly recommended. Photoshop Elements is not taught in this course.

Session 1 – The Basics – In the first session, you will learn how to navigate the menus and panels, customize the workspace, use keyboard shotcuts, open, view, resize and save files in various formats, and use the crop and straighten tools. You will also learn how to use many of the adjustment tools, such as levels, color correction, contrast, exposure and shadow/highlight.

Visit https://3peaksphoto.com/classes/photoshop-lightroom-classes/ for complete descriptions of all of the sessions.
