Molly Wingate is a 40-year veteran of teaching writing. She has an MA in English and has been completed Mental Health First Aid training. She has taught high school, community college, university and adult students. She directed the Writing Center at Colorado College for 14 years and is known for her publications and service awards. In 2001, she started Wingate Consulting and has coached writing, ghost written and published her own work. She has nine titles since 2006, including Slow Parenting Teens.
In 2015, she discovered Pongo Teen Writing in Seattle and saw a model for what could be done in the Pikes Peak Region, especially for teens and veterans. She founded Poetry Heals, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, and is its executive director. Poetry Heals takes therapeutic poetry writing to people who are living difficult lives. Poetry Heals partners with hosting institutions which serve veterans, distressed teens, institutionalized, incarcerated, and homeless people.
Wingate continues to coach writers, ghost write, and coach parents. She lives in Manitou Springs with her husband and has two grown sons.
