Artists and Arts Organizations working in El Paso or Teller Counties are eligible to apply to participate in the MAC program and become Artist Facilitators. All creative media are welcome, and Artist Facilitators will set their own fees and arrange all program logistics and activities around their own schedules. No previous teaching experience is required, but a strong desire to serve and support our local military community is a must.
Once invited to join the MAC program, each participating artist will complete a required 1/2 day training session, presented by the UCCS Veterans Health & Trauma Clinic. New for 2020, all incoming Artist Facilitators will also be required to complete a FBI background check prior to attending the training session. The cost for the background check will be reimbursed by the MAC program upon successful completion of Artist Facilitator training and setup of your profile on the MAC website.
Upon successful completion of training, new Artist Facilitators will be officially registered on the MAC website, and may list up to five (5) creative Experiences that they wish to share with local military service members, veterans, and/or their families. For safety and liability reasons, Experiences may not be held in private residences, and must take place in studios, art centers, nonprofit spaces, commercial venues, or other public locations.
Participating Military & Veteran Service Organizations will then access this website to select appropriate Experiences for the military community members (i.e., Participants) they are supporting. When an Experience has been ordered by a Service Organization, the MAC website will notify the Artist Facilitator to coordinate directly with the Participant via email or phone to confirm their connection and to finalize any logistics for the upcoming Experience.
Once the Experience has been fulfilled, the Artist Facilitator will notify the MAC website by responding to brief evaluation survey. Payment for the services rendered through the MAC program will be made directly to the Artist Facilitator’s bank account via PayPal. While Artist Facilitators may determine their own level of activity in the MAC program, if an Experience is listed this website and ordered by a Service Organization, it must be fulfilled in a timely manner. Artist Facilitators who are unable to meet the performance expectations of the MAC program will no longer be welcome to participate. Scroll down for a list of participating Artist Facilitators.
