In order to participate in the MAC program, either as an Artist Facilitator or a Military & Veteran Service Organization, you will need to participate in a formal MAC training session. Training for individuals and organizations accepted into the MAC program is provided at no cost. Once you have completed your training, you will be given access to login to the back end of this website, where you will be able to edit your content, and take advantage of the full functionality of the MAC program. All MAC participants will be expected to maintain their own website content, and will be asked to serve as informal ambassadors for the program.
Training for Artist Facilitators is designed and delivered by the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) Veterans Health and Trauma Clinic (VHTC). The VHTC serves as practicum and training site for the University’s doctoral students pursuing their PhD in Psychology, Trauma Track. It is a fully functional behavioral health clinic staffed with licensed clinicians and psychologists, all of whom are highly trained in treating trauma based disorders and have specific experience working with military and veteran populations. The curriculum includes a web-based component that leverages existing educational resources from the Creative Forces’ PsychArmor training module, as well as a half-day, virtual training session featuring subject matter experts from the military and mental healthcare sectors. All incoming Artist Facilitators are required to complete a standard FBI background check prior to attending the training session. The process is easy, and the cost for the background check will be reimbursed by the MAC program upon successful completion of Artist Facilitator training and setup of your profile on the MAC website. Participation in the MAC program is open only to Colorado artists based in El Paso and Teller Counties.
Training for Military & Veteran Service Organizations is provided by the MAC Administrator on an as-needed basis, at a mutually convenient time and location. The hour-long training session is conducted virtually via Zoom, and includes an overview of the MAC program, and guidance about how to use the MilitaryArtsConnection.org website for maximum benefit. Participation in the MAC program is open only to military and veteran service organizations operating in El Paso County or Teller County, in the State of Colorado.
